InkBlot Duo

A studio for folded ink blots, made for iPhone Duo. Put ink on a sheet of paper, any ink and as much as you like. Close your Duo and you've folded the page: rub the outer display to push the ink about, then open the phone and the page lifts with it, the ink drawn into veins as it goes: slowly for long ones, quickly for short.

A rack of sixteen inks with water beside them, three strengths of each, and a dish to mix your own. A touch is a drop, a hold a pour, a drag a dribbled line, a flick a spatter; two fingers blow wet ink along. Fold, rub, and peel slowly for long veins or pull it open. Every print is kept in the drawer, to name and share. And nine pencilled shapes to fill, if you'd like a game.

The ink is simulated on cotton paper: it pools, soaks in, runs into the colour beside it, squeezes out between the pages and is drawn into veins as they part. No two prints are the same. On any other iPhone, and on iPad, fold the page over on screen.

No accounts, no ads, no tracking. Your prints stay on your device; the app sends only anonymous usage statistics, which you can turn off.
